My name is Kelly Thoreson and I am currently working as a branch librarian in the GTA.

I am passionate about providing access and services to under-served and marginalized populations and ensuring that the voices of  individuals from these groups are well-represented in the library’s collections and services. My background in library user experience, student services, anthropology, and dialogue all contribute to my radical user focus and interest in providing support to those who most need it.

I am still early in my career and am open to exploring different fields within librarianship, but some of my current professional interests include:

  • Library user experience;
  • Materials and services for young and older adults;
  • Embedded librarianship;
  • Outreach and collaboration with community partners;
  • Health-related research and information services–particularly regarding mental health, addiction, or social determinants of health.

If you would like to learn more about my background, please check out my CV and feel free to get in touch with me on Twitter (@klthoreson) or LinkedIn.
