I couldn’t attend the local Women’s March happening in my city on January 21st because I was working at my library school’s library (meta, I know). So, instead, I decided to create a slapdash display of feminist texts, books about women in information work, and graphic novels by and/or about women.

This was the first display I have ever created, and I enjoyed it so, so much. Part of the enjoyment was being able to put my knowledge of the collection to work, which is a fun part of my brain to exercise, but the other part was discovering new books that I wasn’t aware we even had in the collection.

Overall, the experience of creating this display was a reminder that there are small, everyday ways that librarians can support activism in their communities–and that I am  so happy to work for a library that encourages this kind of work.
